Kid Internet Safety Now In Question – Social Media Sites Facebook and MySpace Forbidden?

There’s something new happening at schools. Recently a New Jersey middle school principal witnessed a rise in the school bullying rate, but with a little twist. The bullying this time was taking place in the online community. The effects of the online community, especially the social medias such as Facebook & Myspace & Twitter are part of the new reality. Is Kid Internet Safety in question?

In this situation the principal took action and contact the parents of the kids at his school, asking them to “forbid their children from participating on any social networking sites”. Is this practical? Can this work? Many experts say the principal’s actions were understandable, however his request to the parents were not practical.
